DRAINJOINT – THE NEW PERMEABLE SOLUTION
Imagine a Permeable Paving solution that doesn’t require the paver to carry nibs or extensions? A system that is so easy to install and isn’t paving material type-specific? But more importantly ensures the beauty of the paving material aesthetic is at its maximum without the scars of a 6mm aggregate joint, which to be fair. looks so ‘utilitarian’. It can be used with any paving size that is produced/quarried, not just those types that are made to be laid with a 6mm aggregate joint.
Drainjoint has been developed in Holland with a desire to create a sustainable solution which is easy to implement, have little or no maintenance requirements and become a total cost effective and alternative solution to the current market offer. Drainjoint requires no need for aggregates and their continual maintenance to avoid blocking and there is no rattling of blocks due to missing aggregates and the subsequent failure of the surface.
Paving can be cleaned with a standard mechanical sweeper without the need to carry out the expensive rejointing of the aggregate fill. The materials is non-degradable and does not absorb water so no issue of freeze-thaw damage.
Further technical attributes:
- Permeable Infiltration Joint
- Paving can be laid to no falls
- Can be used in pedestrian or trafficked situations
- Full design service of the paving surface and required amount of joint to satisfy geographically regional DEFRA required infriltration
- Laid on standard permeable paving sub-base with sand joints as per Interpave and BSEN Standard

Hardscape worked with TPM Landscape Architects, Manchester and Maclaren Construction to supply Kellen Lavaro Wit, Grijs and Oranje paving with Drainjoint. Kellen Lavaro Wit 701 edgings and kerb, Kellen Breccia Tagenta B paving and Kobra granite corduroys and steps with Mist granite treads.
