scheme info:
World’s End Place, London has succeeded in its aim of transforming a run-down and neglected public square into a quality open space that people want to use. A long bench curves along the ellipse, posing a construction challenge as the design called for it to seamlessly follow the curve of the ellipse, whilst also appearing to rise out of the ground. Pacific black flamed granite was chosen for the bench, and contrasting crystal black flamed granite for the floor of the ellipse. Hardscape worked closely with landscape architect Eric Hallquist of John McAslan and Partners and, through a process of consultation, Hardscape produced detailed working drawings that enabled the contractor to complete the scheme both within budget and to a high quality.
