Almost a year on when Northwich’s history was brought back to life through an exciting public realm scheme that enhanced its traditional shopping area, the scheme is looking as good as new! Work began back in July 2012 on the first phase of the Witton Street improvements, which aimed to re-introduce a more traditional feel to enhance the setting of its historic buildings.
The Cheshire West and
Chester Council designed scheme transformed the area between the library and Venables Road with traditional paving, new street furniture and public art features.The footway and pedestrianised area leading from the Meadow Street junction to Venables Road has been re-laid with Yorkstone and granite to echo the early 20th century paving patterns that once characterised the street scene.
Brunner Court and St Paul’s Courtyard has be re-laid with Prima porphyry sets that has added distinction and defines the areas for events and relaxation. Hardscape supplied Prima porphyry setts with Crystal Black granite ‘Artscape’ paving and a mix of New Rustenberg, Kobra and Royal White granite setts for the trafficked areas.
