Earlier this year the Andrew Marvell Business and Enterprise College in Hull opened its doors with an increased capacity for 1300 students. The £27 million building, which was was designed by HKS Architects and built by Morgan Sindall as part of the city’s £400m Building Schools for the Future scheme, comprises of a single four- storey block that replaces the separate buildings at the school.
Within the steel structure
of the Barham Road building that forms part of the ‘A’ in the Andrew Marvell sign is a large red fibreglass sphere that Hardscape were asked to produce and implement in conjunction with Design and Display Structures Ltd.
The sphere contains a time capsule containing memories and reminders of the present school for future students and staff. It includes a book called What Is It Like To Be A Teenager In Hull In The 21st Century.
