Congratulations to Stoke-on-Trent City Council for their Silver Flora Show Garden Award for the ‘Transformation Garden’ at the 2013 RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Designed by Stoke-on-Trent City Council Landscape Team, the inspiration for the garden was a skeleton of a pottery bottle kiln which represents the city’s heritage. In contrast, a sunken seating area occupies a prominent position at the front of the garden to promote the contemporary living spaces being created in the city.

The garden tells the storyphpG1Escc5237 of Stoke-on-Trent’s journey from its rich industrial past to its present transformation into a modern contemporary city. Staffordshire University had been working with hundreds of local school children in the making of thousands of ceramic flowers that formed a key feature of the garden.

Hardscape were proud to donate the hard landscaping materials to this prestigious project. Mathew Haslam, Hardscape’s MD commented: “Congratulations to all involved at Stoke-on-Trent City Council, the public realm transformation of Stoke has been our garden too over the past few years!” Photo: © Brian Thomas Photography.
