As foundation stage members of the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) and with the ongoing support of ETI staff, Hardscape are working to ensure the Base Code Principles of ETI are met across Hardscape's India & China supply routes.
ETI is an umbrella organisation comprising private business, Government and NGOs who put ino practical action processes which ensure the NINE base code principles of ETI are envolved in their supply chains. As an active, partcipating ETI member, Hardscape work in partnership with the ETI Board to improve working conditions across their Natural Stone supply ensuring products are ethically sound, from quarry to end user, Hardscape monitor the implemenation of the ETI Base Code and comply with ETI reporting and oversight.
IMAGES: Granite stone splitting is completed in small open sites by migrant workers in Southern India. Our commitment encompasses working towards sustainable employment for these workers providing a steady income. In addition there is the country's traditional issue of children on open work sites accompanying their parents - Hardscape ensure our sites are CHILD FREE by promoting social education programmes. Our Indian sandstone 'splitting' is completed in India's largest state, Rajasthan, where 40 degree heat and the use of full PPE wear can cause harm therefore Hardscape maintain the protection of the worker against the regions' intense hot climate with frequent monitoring of the individual. Also pictured is one of our saw process yards with granite ready to go into production.
